We all have a money story

A lot of people have a love-hate relationship with money and find it difficult to make sound financial decisions, be that in their own personal lives or at work. Money management training is sadly something we don’t learn in school and as adults we are expected to know how to do it or face the ugly consequences of insecurity, debt or even bankruptcy. Some of us are a natural, some learn from mistakes and some don’t even know where to begin.

As a Certified Chartered Accountant I have worked with numbers for many years and I know how terrifying they can sometimes be. If you add a currency symbol in front of those numbers, the emotional element comes into place as all of a sudden we are talking about MONEY, our money. Concepts such as budgeting, savings, financial goals and planning can be very intimidating indeed, especially when you don’t have any specialist training and can’t break through the jargon.

I have met and worked with many people who are earning a decent salary and yet they are struggling to make ends meet and live paycheque to paycheque whilst relying on loans to sustain their lifestyles. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be like that and if you are in such a situation then please don’t lose hope!

It’s amazing what outstanding results can be obtained with proper guidance and the desire to change your life for the better. You certainly have what it takes to overcome your financial limitations and improve your situation and I am here to help you do that!

We all have a money story. Whatever that story is for you, together we can change it. I became a Financial Coach to help people like you who wish to take control of their finances and let go of all the negative emotions they have around money.

The story behind The Savvy Corner

I founded The Savvy Corner in 2017 as a safe and non-judgemental place for people who are ready to talk about money in a meaningful way. The name has an interesting story which I am delighted to share with you.

I am used to talking about money as I come from a culture where it’s not such a taboo subject. I was engaged in a conversation about finances with someone when they made the following comment: “That accent and wisdom must come from a different corner of the world. Where are you from?” As a joke, my answer was “I guess I’m from the savvy corner”. The words “savvy corner” stayed with me for a long time. When it was time to name my business there was no other name that seemed to suit it better.

I come from an ex-communist country and that culture shaped me and my relationship with money. It wasn’t always easy, especially when I was very young, but I am a firm believer that we create our own stories. Therefore, instead of thinking of it in a negative way, I decided to look at the benefits instead. I come from the savvy corner of the world because of the things that life taught me about money.
